This blog is dedicated to my beautiful daughter, Shayna Elayne Smith, who passed from this world in June 2015.
Shayna continues to guide, inspire, push, and prod me. She has shown me signs of her continued and remains a daily presence in my life.
She is my inspiration for the work I do.
Grief 2 Growth Podcast- Lynn K. Russell- What The NDE Teaches Us About Ourselves- Ep. 49
*** NOTICE*** Lynn and I take a pretty deep dive in this episode. It’s not your Reality 101 course. Take what resonates with you and leave what doesn’t. Lynn Russell set out to do some work for Dr. Jeffrey Long, the creator of the NDERF.org database, the world’s largest collection of near-death experiences. Lynn was […]
Keep goingDay 1673- Gratitude Dream
It’s five minutes before eight. I’m supposed to wake Shayna up at 8 o’clock. I can’t wait. I’m excited to see her beautiful face. I’m going to wake her early. I walk downstairs. She’s sleeping in the basement on a pull-out couch. I think it’s my parents’ house. I look down. She looks so peaceful […]
Keep goingDay 1672- Was I High When I Chose My Family?
“Family, where life begins, and love never ends.” It’s a lovely thought, isn’t it? This is on a plaque my wife bought. It’s in our downstairs powder room. It’s a great sentiment. But, it certainly doesn’t resonate with everyone. This week in the Afterlife Topics group on Facebook, someone asked a question about soul planning. […]
Keep goingDay 1665- The Day After Shayna’s Birthday
Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, all of these things are a confusing mix of emotions after we have “lost” a dear one. Shayna’s 20th birthday was a day that brought a feeling of dread as it loomed larger and larger on the calendar. Starting last week, well-meaning parents in Helping Parents Heal began offering sympathetic messages to […]
Keep goingDay 1664- Shayna’s Birthday- Give Me a Sign
Today is Shayna’s 20th birthday. When I asked her for a sign this morning, she reminded me she had given me a sign last night. The Alexa in our office suddenly and inexplicably stopped working with the bedroom lights. Just as inexplicably, it started working again. This morning, I made a YouTube video using an […]
Keep goingDay 1661- Synchronicities versus Signs
I talk a lot about signs because when we lose someone precious to us, we look for any indication they are around. Signs are often a subset of synchronicities, which some call “God winks.” I call them “Easter eggs” a reference to little surprises programmers put into video games for the player. More and more, […]
Keep goingDay 1637- I Am Not
Many times when we are trying to define a thing as profound as God, it’s easier to say what it is not than to say what it is. When it comes to figuring out who or what we are, the most basic of questions, we can find many errors along the way. Some of us, […]
Keep goingDay 1619-Shayna Playing On My Phone Again
Shayna always played this game with me on my iPhone. I would typically have a picture of the two girls as my lock screen picture. Shayna would unlock my phone and replace their picture with a picture of her solo. Just a few weeks before she passed, or maybe even on a few days, she […]
Keep goingDay 1612- Treasure In Heaven
“If we provide our service not solely for the monetary reward but in the spirit of love and dedication, this will be reflected in the quality of our afterlife and will make our work much more gratifying and enjoyable in the process.” Jurgen Ziewe Vistas of Infinity Yesterday, my friend Ruth Altschuler was giving […]
Keep goingDay 1610- Ask And Ye Shall Receive
Last night I interviewed a physical medium. As a physical medium, apports appear in his presence. Coins, feathers, crystals will spontaneously appear “out of nowhere.” He told me the story of someone he was speaking with about apports and she said “I want an apport.” and immediately a coin (if I call correctly) landed on […]
Keep goingDay 1588- Let’s Make Reality A Little Easier to See
Connection. The more you are aware of this between you and all things, all people, the more peace, joy, and love you will experience in your life. Separation. The more you see this as the truth of your existence , the more isolation and desolation you will feel. Perspective is all-important. Looking at the surface, […]
Keep goingDay 1587- Are You Feeling A Little SAD?
Here in the northern hemisphere, it’s late October. The leaves are turning, the skies are often gray all day, and the days are short. If you’re feeling a little SAD, there may be a good reason for it. What is SAD? Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects an estimated 5% of the population in a significant […]
Keep goingDay 1583- Through A Glass Darkly
1 Corinthians 13:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. “Through a glass darkly”; having grown up with the King James Version of the Bible, this is the way I […]
Keep goingDay 1584- I’ve Got To Use My Imagination
I’ve really got to use my imagination To think of good reasons To keep on keepin’ on (keep on keepin’ on)- Gladys Knight Imagination- what do you think of when you hear that word? My friend Kat Baillie and I had a little debate about this. Kat is an amazing professional medium. For her, […]
Keep goingDay 1557- Remembering Eric Middlebrook
One week ago today, I was in Bardstown, KY attending the Bourbon Festival when I got a notification on my phone. Helen started a Facebook Messenger group to tell us that our friend, Eric Middlebrook, had transitioned the day before. Eric passed unexpectedly, due to complications from surgery the week before that. I was stunned. […]
