Grief 2 Growth Signature Program
A path through grief, walked together, one steady step at a time.
Single sessions help a lot of people. Sometimes, though, you don’t want to take this one hour at a time. You want a path, a rhythm, and someone walking beside you for the whole stretch.
That’s what this is.
We meet regularly over several weeks. The work builds on itself, so you’re not starting over each time we talk. You can reach me between sessions when something comes up. And along the way I send you follow-up content and resources chosen for where you actually are, not where a generic program assumes you should be.
I built this out of my own experience. After Shayna passed in 2015, I had to find my own way through, and I spent years studying grief, the afterlife, and how people actually heal. What I learned became this. When we work together, you’re working with someone who has been where you are.

Brian D. Smith is an author, podcaster, and coach serving people who feel “stuck” in life and are ready to bring out their fullest potential for well-being and thriving. Brian made his name working with people who have suffered loss and want to work through their grief and get back in the driver’s seat of their lives. He helps people ready for a reset in their lives because they feel it’s out of balance with their priorities or misaligned with their purpose. Brian’s approach is very different from traditional grief counseling. His comprehensive approached is steeped in experience.
Brian now shares the wisdom of his years of inquiry and personal development, along with techniques acquired as a life coach, grief educator, and mental health trainer, with his listeners, readers, students, and clients.

Does this sound familiar?
If any of these resonate with you, keep reading.
If any of that sounds familiar, this is for you. It doesn’t matter whether your loss is a death, a divorce, a job, or a life that stopped looking the way you planned. Grief is grief.
“I did not hesitate to work with Brian. After reading the book, I was very excited to speak to someone with a similar experience who could offer help.
I liked that he understood where I was and that I could function again one day.
I have been able to work again, make decisions, and plan for the hard days. I figured out strategies for daily life. I learned to make decisions based on where I am at any given moment, not based on what makes sense to the old Kelly.
Brian was an absolute blessing to me. I hope he helps many others.
If you don’t have any idea how to function after losing a child, talk to Brian.”

What You Get
One-on-one Zoom sessions– Just you and me, focused entirely on you. You choose how many to start: 3, 6, or 8. You can always add more.
Personalized notes from each session– After every session, I send you detailed notes. During our sessions, you can focus on our conversation, resting assured that I will send you a comprehensive summary of our conversation along with what you’re doing right and what we can work on to do better.
Follow-up content– After our sessions, I send videos and emails that pick up where we left off, so the work keeps going between meetings.
Resources chosen for you– Books, tools, and practices I point you to because they fit where you are, not a one-size-fits-all reading list.
Access between sessions– Something comes up at 11 pm on a Tuesday? Text or email me. I answer as I’m able. My clients tell me these in-between moments matter as much as the sessions themselves.

What We Work On
Every journey is different, so we go where you need to go. That said, a few things come up for almost everyone.
🌟 Making sense of your grief
We look at what grief actually is and why it does what it does. We work through the guilt and the blame, the anger you might be holding toward yourself, a doctor, or even the person who left. And we name the old beliefs that are quietly keeping you stuck, so you can decide whether they’re still true.
🦋 Staying connected
You don’t have to learn to live without your person. You can learn to stay in a relationship with them. We look at signs, dreams, synchronicities, and the ways people stay connected after a death. I’ll also share what I’ve found in decades of studying near-death experiences, mediumship, and the evidence that the relationship doesn’t end.
🔮 The bigger questions
Why are we here? Where did your loved one go? What is any of this for? These questions get loud after a loss, and most people have nowhere to ask them out loud. We sit with them together. When you have a sense of why, the how gets easier to carry.
💜 Taking care of yourself
Grief is exhausting, and self-care is usually the first thing to go. I’ll help you build practices that fit a real life, including mindfulness that doesn’t require an hour of sitting still. Small, doable things that rebuild your resilience over time.
How It Works
You pick how many sessions you want to start with: 3, 6, or 8. Most people schedule about one a week, as life allows. There’s no wrong number. Start where you’re comfortable, and add more whenever you want to keep going.
This is built on the continuing bonds approach. Traditional grief counseling often tells people to let go and move on. I don’t believe you have to. The goal isn’t to get over your person. It’s to carry them with you in a way that lets you live again. A lot of my clients see a counselor too, and that’s completely fine. This works alongside it.
A note on faith: For some people, grief gets tangled up with religion, especially if you were raised to fear God or your church hasn’t given you the comfort you hoped for. I know that struggle from the inside. We can work through it here, and if it’s a big part of your story, I have a page just for that.

“I have been through a tremendously difficult time in my life following the loss of my father and my fiancé who passed only two years apart. I was fortunate enough to have the support of Brian to help me through this challenging period.
From the very first meeting, I felt deeply understood due to the genuine warmth and empathy in our sessions.
Throughout our conversations, I felt completely at ease and secure in the knowledge that I was in a safe, non-judgemental space. Brian was open-minded, understanding, and always willing to listen to my thoughts and feelings. I will be forever grateful for the guidance and support he provided.
I can honestly say that working with Brian helped me considerably in dealing with some intrusive thoughts and gave me the nudge I needed to start building a new life after loss.
If you find yourself in a difficult time of bereavement, I would highly recommend booking a discovery session with Brian”
